DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed for teachers of Vocational Major Literacy\, Work Related Skills and Personal Development Skills. It explores practical ways that teachers can use AI tools such as ChatGPT in VM classrooms to improve preparation\, student support and assessment design in an era of generative AI. \nThe workshop emphasises that AI is not a substitute for teacher expertise\, professional judgement or quality pedagogy\, nor is it simply a way for students to “cheat.” Instead\, the focus is on how AI can take on repetitive or time-consuming tasks\, allowing teachers to devote more time to planning\, scaffolding and working directly with students. The workshop will also explore strategies for responding to the challenges AI presents for assessment\, student learning and academic integrity. \nParticipants will see demonstrations of how AI tools can be used to: \n• Source\, create and break down examples of everyday\, real-world texts\n• Develop explicit teaching resources\, models and learning sequences\n• Generate unit\, activity\, group work and discussion ideas\n• Support project-based learning and applied tasks\n• Create and differentiate resources\, tasks and prompts\n• Create vocabulary lists and sentence starters\n• Develop assessment tasks and rubrics\n• Design authentic and personalised learning tasks that are less susceptible to AI misuse\n• Support students to use AI critically\, ethically and effectively
