The 2020 Junior Issues Pack contains resources on four current issues:
- #BlackLivesMatter
- Pulling down statues
- Culling brumbies
- Remote learning
For each issue there are:
- A set of images or cartoons to analyse on their own
- A set of short persuasive pieces (with no images) to analyse
- A set of short persuasive pieces which include images to analyse
The images and cartoons have been selected and the written pieces edited to suit a Year 9&10 level. Along with the persuasive material, this resource pack also includes individual student instruction sheets on:
- How to annotate and write analyses of images and cartoons
- How to annotate and write analyses of short persuasive pieces
- How to write analyses of short persuasive pieces which include images
These instruction sheets can be used with the persuasive material for any of the four issues. They have been produced with remote learning in mind and are designed for students to use on their own. There is enough material in this resource pack for a three week remote learning unit:
- How to annotate and write analyses of images and cartoons (1 week)
- How to annotate and write analyses of short persuasive pieces (1 week)
- How to annotate and write analyses of short persuasive pieces which include images (1 week)
