Description
This unit resource has been developed to suit Unit 2 – VM Literacy. This resource includes material that can be used as the basis for a 1-2 week unit on the current issue of Youth Crime in Victoria. The resource includes teacher notes, handouts and persuasive material. Specifically, this resource will support teachers to:
1. Introduce the unit and access student prior knowledge
2. Introduce students to the background of the issue, engage in comprehension activities and identify different sides to the issue
3. Guide students to assess and evaluate media coverage on the issue for bias
4. Scaffold students to develop their own opinions on the issue and respond to the arguments of others
