The new Victorian English Curriculum 2.0 has a focus on teaching students to write in a variety of non-fiction styles from 7-10, as well as to experiment with using increasingly sophisticated sentence structure and vocabulary as they progress through the year levels. This free workshop looks at how Ticking Mind’s two textbooks – The Student Guide To Writing Better Sentences 1 (for Year levels 7&8) and The Student Guide To Writing Better Sentences 2 (for Year levels 9&10) – can be used to support schools’ implementation of these writing focuses. In particular, this workshop will look at how The Student Guides To Writing can be used to:

• Teach non-fiction writing such as biographies, reviews, recounts, reflective writing and personal text responses
• Explicitly teach sentence structures
• Explicitly teach vocabulary
