This workshop is designed for high school English teachers seeking practical strategies to support students in engaging with and responding to film texts. The session focuses on how explicit instruction can be used to make the processes of viewing, comprehending and analysing film visible and manageable for students.
The workshop will cover:

Breaking down the viewing process into clear, teachable steps, including before-viewing, during-viewing and after-viewing strategies

Modelling strategies for active viewing, such as guided note-taking, shot-by-shot analysis, questioning and scene summarising
