This workshop is designed to equip teachers to teach students to analyse audio visual texts for the Exploring Argument area of study in Unit 2 for the new VCE English study design. This workshop is also suitable for teachers teaching this skill at a Year 10 level. This workshop will look at:
- Types of assessment tasks and criteria sheets
- What makes a suitable AV persuasive text and where to source them
- Teaching students to identify and analyse audience and context of a persuasive AV text
- Teaching students to identify the intention of a persuasive AV text
- Teaching students to identify significant persuasive features of an AV text that support its intention
- Teaching students to write analytically about a persuasive AV text
