Creative non-fiction is an important but sometimes overlooked part of the Year Levels 7-10 English Curriculum which can prioritise fictional and narrative writing instead. This workshop provides detailed guidance on how to teach the five following non-fiction writing units at Year Levels 7-10:

• Biographies
• Reviews
• Features articles / news reports
• Personal text responses
• Reflective writing

The workshop will include:

• examples of assessment tasks for each unit
• examples of idea frameworks that can be used to underpin each unit
• mentor texts that can be used for each unit
• explicit writing strategies for each unit
