Practical strategies for managing challenging behaviours in every classroom
April 30, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
$150This workshop, for both primary and secondary teachers, looks at three levels of teacher responses to student behaviour:
• Intra-personal responses: How do we manage and stay in control of our own feelings and behaviour when challenged by student behaviour?
• Inter-personal responses: How do we successfully deal with individual, small groups and whole classes of students to manage challenging behaviour?
• Systematic responses: How can we build effective structures at a whole school level to successfully prevent and respond to challenging behaviours?
This workshop will explore effective responses to a range of challenging behaviours, from low level disruptive behaviour through to aggression.
Presenter: Dr. Kevin Quin is a consulting psychologist for schools. He has previously been the student welfare co-ordinator at Notre Dame College’s McAuley Champagnat Program in Shepparton which exclusively supports disengaged students with a range of complex learning difficulties and behavioural problems. He is now a residential psychologist at Cobram Anglican Grammar.
