This workshop looks in depth at teaching English at Year Level 7 for the new Victorian Curriculum in 2025. In particular, this workshop will demonstrate how to:

• teach students to craft and write texts for a range of purposes (including express, explain, reflect and persuade)
• design effective units to support students to create texts
• teach students to use a range of sentence structures
• teach students to analyse and create spoken texts
• teach students to analyse and respond to poetry
• teach students to analyse novels and films and respond in analytic and personal response essays
• teach students to develop, share and discuss ideas and opinions with other students
