This workshop is designed for graduate teachers, teachers new to History, and Humanities teachers who have not previously taught the subject. It aims to build confidence and provide practical, classroom-ready strategies for teaching Years 7–10 History.
The session will support teachers to:

Source engaging, curriculum-aligned History resources and apply strategies that help students understand and respond to historical content

Teach a range of historical sources, including primary and secondary sources, written and visual sources, and archaeological evidence

Explicitly teach key historical skills such as source analysis, historical inquiry, research and historical writing

Develop students’ literacy skills in the History classroom through effective scaffolding and differentiation strategies

Plan effective History lessons, including inquiry-based and skills-focused lesson structures

Use practical ICT tools to support engagement, analysis and skill development in the History classroom
The workshop will focus on explicit teaching approaches, practical examples and strategies that teachers can apply immediately in their classrooms.
