Description
This pack contains resources on five current issues:
- Celebrity eco hypocrites flying jets
- Animal extinction in Australia
- Human rights for Happy the elephant
- The case for saying “OK Boomer”
- The bad behavior of Nick Kyrgios
- The Oscars slap
For each issue there are:
- A set of images or cartoons to analyse on their own
- A short persuasive pieces (with no images) to analyse
- A short persuasive pieces which include an image to analyse
- One or more transcripts of persuasive audio visual texts (all 1-2 minutes in length) + the link to watch the text online
The images and cartoons have been selected and the written pieces edited and adapted to suit a Year 9&10 level. Along with the persuasive material, this resource pack also includes individual student instruction sheets on:
- How to annotate and write analyses of images and cartoons
- How to annotate and write analyses of short persuasive pieces
- How to write analyses of short persuasive pieces which include images
These instruction sheets can be used with the persuasive material for any of the four issues. They have been produced with remote learning in mind and are designed for students to use on their own. There is enough material in this resource pack for a three week remote learning unit:

- How to annotate and write analyses of short persuasive pieces (1 week)
- How to annotate and write analyses of short persuasive pieces which include images (1 week)
