Description
This pack contains resources on five current issues:
- Banning fossil fuel advertising
- Banning gambling advertising
- ChatGPT – how should it be used in schools?
- Changes to the language in Roald Dahl books
- Sharenting (over sharing of photos of children online by parents)
For each issue there are:
- A set of images or cartoons to analyse on their own
- A short persuasive pieces (with no images) to analyse
- A short persuasive pieces which includes an image to analyse
- Two transcripts of persuasive audio visual texts (all 1-2 minutes in length) + the link to watch the text online
The images and cartoons have been selected and the written pieces edited and adapted to suit a Year 9&10 level. Along with the persuasive material, this resource pack also includes individual student instruction sheets on:
- How to annotate and write analyses of images and cartoons
- How to annotate and write analyses of short persuasive pieces
- How to write analyses of short persuasive pieces which include images
These instruction sheets can be used with the persuasive material for any of the five issues. There is enough material in this resource pack for a three week unit:
